I would therefore venture to suggest that

the dollar equivalents of £100 and £200 in the footnote to

rule 66 be re-considered.

3. It may not be out of place point here

the wide disparity between £500 in rule 153 and 3000 which

by the footnote to the rule is fixed at its equivalent.

The effect of the rule as it stands is

that while the Medical Officer of Health in this Colony whose

salary is only $ 3600 had to provide passages to HongKong at

his own expense for himself and his wife, Mr. Crook (salary

£500) and his wife are about to proceed to Gibraltar at

the expense of that Colony.
